Joint Meeting of the RU and Terminal Advisory Groups of RFC Rhine-Danube and RFC Mediterranean – 13 October 2026 in Budapest, Hungary

The Management Board of RFC Rhine-Danube, in close cooperation with RFC Mediterranean, successfully hosted a joint Railway Undertaking and Terminal Advisory Group meeting on 13 October 2026. The event took place at the Rail Cargo Terminal BILK in Budapest, Hungary.

The meeting brought together key sector stakeholders, representatives of infrastructure managers, and rail users to discuss strategic investments priorities and current corridor service and operational developments. Key topics included strategic planning, predictable infrastructure availability (including alternative routes), and the European Transport Corridor Coordinators’ work plans. It was an honour for us that two representatives from the European Commission’s DG-MOVE were also present.

Based on comments received from several stakeholders there was a constructive discussions about the coordination and communication regarding planned track possessions. Participants highlighted that uncoordinated closures and extended track possessions create substantial financial burdens for railway undertakings. Therefore participants from the concerned ministries were kindly addressed for ensuring a long-term financial planning which could certainly facilitate more accurate and predictable planning for Infrastructure Managers and for the execution of the works.

The event proved to be a great success, fostering productive dialogue and strong cooperation among participants. Following the intensive professional exchange, the meeting concluded with a guided tour of the Rail Cargo Terminal – BILK, providing valuable insights into the terminal’s daily operations. We would also like to express our gratitude to BILK for their kind hospitality.
